roots of utah...
this is the image that spawned 'somewhere in utah'...
really, a rock that was pulled from a low-level butte that i hicked was labeled 'Somewhere In Utah' in my rock collection. when it came to labeling these photos, a lady was spying on me doing so and asked where this particular photo was taken...
'I dunno...Somewhere in Utah...'

"If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers." -Thomas Pynchon, from Gravity's Rainbow's "Proverbs for Paranoids"
"The wackos get their information through the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees...Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them." -Michael Scanlon, former aide to Rep. Tom DeLay, (R-Tx)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." -Dwight D. Eisenhower
"I tend to think that this conservative backlash that has been going on since the '70s is the final spasms of a dying creature; history is not moving that way, and no matter how much people dig their heels in and assume this is the 1950s or the Middle Ages, that's not the truth of the situation. No matter how powerful our political and religious leaders think they are, they are as dust before the immense and implacable forces of history and progress. I just hope that they don't make too much of a mess or take too many more people down with them." –Alan Moore
